Customer Background
The renowned chain hotpot stores have expanded to numerous branches across Taiwan. In recent years, as the restaurant industry increasingly relies on Internet. These restaurants have introduced various digital conveniences such as dedicated membership apps and online reservation services. However, this integration has also complicated internal system management, including handling sensitive data like member information, POS systems, and in-store surveillance. With a substantial portion of system management dependent on internet connectivity, the risk of cyber attacks has escalated. Balancing digital convenience with ensuring customer data security has become a significant challenge for chain businesses.
The chain restaurant has numerous branches across Taiwan. Its owner utilize VPN to transmit data, including daily turnover and internal data, from each branch to the headquarters. This expansion of the intranet raises concerns about its security. Additionally, providing free Wi-Fi to customers in each branch poses cybersecurity risks, as it could facilitate cyber attacks if customers access malicious content. These attacks have the potential to disrupt individual branch operations, impact the entire chain restaurant stores, and even affect headquarter’s operations.
After understanding the issues faced by restaurant, Lionic provides corresponding solutions for both the headquarters and branch store, allowing devices to maximize their defensive capabilities without impacting the original network architecture, thereby reducing cybersecurity risks.
Headquarters
The headquarters has installed the Dual Ark-UTM 16 at the gateway to filter Internet content, preventing employees from inadvertently accessing phishing websites, malicious links, and other harmful content that could potentially affect internal operations. The use of the Dual Ark-UTM 16, which includes dual machine redundancy to ensures continuous network operation in any situation without disrupting business activities

Each branch has installed the Pico-UTM 100 at gateway. Connected to the headquarters VPN, these devices prevent virus infiltration through VPN connections, thereby enhancing network security for both branches and the headquarters. Through the CMS (Central Management System), administrators can remotely monitor multiple Pico-UTM 100 devices simultaneously.
